What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. (THE MESSAGE)

No Fear! Psalm 112:7-8

April 29, 2010

He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes. Psalm 112:7-8 (NLT)

  • In the current economy, bad news is seemingly everywhere. Another friend laid-off, a neighbor’s home in foreclosure, the loss of a key customer. Don’t bother looking for bad news, it’ll probably find you on its own! In fact, many of us are now paralyzed by the fear that such bad news will soon knock on our own doors as well. Are you struggling with this type of fear? Today God calls us to trust in Him, to set our heart upon His calling and His purposes in our life. Are not your hairs counted? Surely he will guide you through whatever storms come your way. And by the way, it’s a statistical fact that our fears are rarely realized to the degree that we perceive them.

Go! Matt 28:18-20

April 28, 2010

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (THE MESSAGE)

Delight! Psalm 94:19

April 26, 2010

In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul! (Amplified Bible)

  • Anxiety. It’s a word we hear all too often in our frenetic culture. Whether it’s fear of job loss, your shrinking 401k or the growing threat of terrorism, reasons for anxiety abound. Yet God’s word promises comfort, yes even joy in the midst of these things. Pray today and ask the Lord to show you his delight in the face of anxiety. It might already be there, if you just stop to listen.

Defended, Psalm 91:11

April 25, 2010

For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. (AMP)

No Drift! Hebrews 2:1

April 24, 2010

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
